Anti-ageing beauty from the Inside Out

Why take supplements?

Many of us try topical creams that contain vitamins that promise to erase fine lines and prevent wrinkles however, Dr Karen E. Burke, a Dermatologist says that many topical formulations contain very low concentrations of antioxidant vitamins that are not absorbed well by the skin.1

Vitamins are sometimes overlooked in the fight against ageing compared to the vast variety of creams and serums, but research shows that vitamins are a key part of slowing the ageing process.5

While topical serums and creams may slow the appearance of ageing in areas where they are applied, they cannot fight the ageing happening within your body.5

Which supplements should I take?

Antioxidants are known to prevent free radicals from damaging cells in the body and skin.  Free radicals can result from natural body processes as well as exposure to environmental factors such as smoking or ultraviolet radiation from the sun and can speed up the ageing process.1

Some of the nutrients that protect the skin against oxidative and ultra-violet (UV) induced damage, dehydration, and loss of elasticity are vitamins A, C, D and E, selenium, zinc, copper, polyphenols, and Omega-3 fatty acids.4,5

Vitamin A plays a role in boosting collagen production and reducing wrinkles.5

Vitamin C and Vitamin E are important for repairing free radicals and preventing them from accelerating the ageing process.1

Copper plays an important role in maintaining collagen and elastin, and so together with other antioxidants can play a role in helping to prevent skin ageing.7

Selenium preserves tissue elasticity and slows down the ageing and hardening of tissues.1

Zinc has photoprotective properties ( protects against ultraviolet radiation from sunlight, solar or X-Rays) and elastic regenerative properties, making it a powerful ally in the fight against ageing.5

Resveratrol is rich in plant-based nutrients known as polyphenols that protects the skin against the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation, which is the main factor in the skin aging process. Numerous reports confirm that resveratrol exhibits anti-ageing and regenerative effects on the skin.2

Lycopene is a unique polyphenol (active ingredient is in a plant/herbal) with antioxidant and UV-blocking capabilities that make it a valuable weapon in the battle against skin ageing.4

You may need some of these nutrients in higher amounts for full support.  That is why the Nativa Complex® Range offers products that are high in many of these nutrients.  Start with a targeted multivitamin like Nativa Complex® MultiVit for Women and then add on additional supplements based on your needs.

These nutrients are some of our strongest weapons when it comes to fighting anti-ageing, but unfortunately, sometimes we can’t get the amount we need through diet alone. With a good supplement routine, we can fight the symptoms of ageing.5
